THURSDAY, JULY 1,-1920.
There arc many who spend too |
little vacation at home.
<>
Lands have increased so in value
during the last few years in this j
county, that it is easy to collect
many an old judgment.
Conway has streets requiring'
work on them everyday. Better j
streets would allow the town t ?j
put this work somewhere else.
o
The high cost of living worries
some people while others seem to
take it as a matter of course. Some
we know who will refuse to take
an article that is not high priced. I
If the price is out of sight tlvey;
want it ami if it is low they would
not have it under any circumstances.
o
USE GOOD JUDGMENT.
Tt is important to the people to;
have in public office, no matter
v whether it is elective or appointive; j
men of cool, discriminating judg-1
ment. No other kind of man is fit j
to fill a office in the gift of the
people. You would think, for in - j
stance, that the office of road overseer,
or school trustee, would be
easy to fill and that almost anybody
would do to place in either ot
thoKP nlflfPS Dllt Iipvo 5c wlir>?*n i'rm ill
would be mistaken, for we have "
seen as much trouble kicked up by
road overseers and school trustees
in many communities as by any
other agency of a governmental nature.
Therefore the people should
have the men of better judgment to j
conduct the public affairs. Tt J f
stands to reason too that the best j t
men cannot be had for nothing, j j
Salaries should always be high i
enough to command the very best '
men to fill the offices.
This paper delights in publishing
the articles written by the farmers
of the county on the questions of
the free range and general stock '
law provisions; but there is no sat- i
isfaction in reading some of the t
letters we get because they do no: f
co'Ham argument and lva on, but
only abuse and ridicule.
