GREAT INDUCEMENT
Editor Herald:
1 only wish to express my opinion
about the stock law in the columns
of this paper as I am a young' man
and intend to follow fanning as an
occupation. There has never been a
wiser law passed in the Legislature
than this one. And I am.very sorry
that so many of our two by four
farmers can't see any further in the
future than to say that it is a curse
and every other thing upon us. I
pity them.
I wish to say, and not only I but
others, that the stock law is the
greatest inducement to keep young
men on the farm, the backbone of
the world. H there is no farming
going on, all business practically
stons. Tin 1 nv tVm \,rrw?0/l'o ...... r 1
, . vv.uj v i iv iiuiivi s Kiy ,f> 1uuu
| and in the face of this plea hundreds
of young: nien from sixteen to
twenty one ore leaving1 the farm
and accepting town jobs. Why? Because
they know that the actual co?t
of fencing the farm would clear it
up ready for a crop. Then to fence
the farm to begin with is discouraging.
A great pull back. What is
the result? Working for wages,
short food crop. Remember that the
old farmers are passing out, the
young men are the future. Then if
harming is the most essential thing
in the world, and it is, lot's do every
thing that can Ik4 done to encourare
that work, and to pull down the
fences is the first great step.
