Markets.
To give to producers and other:
information regarding- actual cottor
prices in their local or near by important
markets, the Bureau of MarKets
of the Unit oil State i Department
of Agriculture is inaugurating a cot
ton-price Quotation seivicc and wil
issue reports from five important
points in the cotton belt. Cotton
feed prices also will be covered.
The first report is to be issuer
from Memphis, Term., for the. district
immediately surrounding' that point;
reports will follow district headquarters
at Atlanta, Ga.; New Orl ans
La.; Charlotte, N. C.; and Dallas
Tex., for the territotry immcdiatoi\
surrounding each of those points.
In announciig the price-quotation
service for cotton, the Bureau of Markets
states that producers, and even
dealers interested in cotton, have always
lacked sufficient reliable information
as to the actual market
values of the different grades of cottotn
in the various primary markets
and concentration points in the cotton
belt. A recent amendment to
he United States Cotton Futures
Act provided authoritty and funds
to enable the Secretary of Agriculture
to inaugurate a quotation service
which would furnish producers
and others the needed information,
particularly in view of tho fact that,
as a result of the amendment, an important
outlet for ten of the lower
grades of cotton which had previously
been deliverable on future con<hail

this outlet for these ten low grades

which the Government is now establishing.
Gathering of Rjpor!s.
Reports of purchases and sales cf
cotton will be gathered from country
buyers, country merchant , dca'crs,
brokers, commission merchant , factors,
mills, and c thers who buy o'" s it
cotton in tbc important c.un.ry ma'',
kcts and -on^entration points thicu h
out the cotton belt. On the ba is of
these reports, the Bureau of markets
will prepare and publish we. kly bulletins
showing the price; at which th e
various grades of cotton ha**e actually
been bought and sold. The bulletin
issued from each of the five district
headquarters will show cotton
prices in a number of markets in the
territory immediately surrounding
r adjacent to the district headquarters,
and its distrfbutioa w 11 be
largely confined to persons in the district
for which it i? issued. No one
trullotin will cover quotations for the
entire cotton belt, and it is intende1
that the bulletins shall he prepared
in a concise, readily understandable
form and given such distribution
that they will be of local value to
^persons in the communities which receive
them.

bulletins will be telephoned or wired
