A tiny bottle of Frcezone costs but

an* quite sure that we will be j ?

?ast. It is a difficult matter to get t<
his law in full operation until the c
ensus has been taken fully and all the (|
sts in the hands of the teachers, but j v
whenever this is complete the law f
lay then be considered in full force t
11 over this part of the county, and a
trust that this law will be accept~d r
s reason (as it is not unreasonable) j.

It is a marked fact that those who j,
re in position to know, find many (
a-ses in which there are boys and v
;irls of all ages, from six to twenty, ^
n school today that have never been ^
n school heretofore, and, who pos- f
iibly would have never been were it v
tot for the knowlelge of the fact that jc
ompulsory law was on hand to be f
nforced. There are a few folks who '
nake such expressions as "I have
harge of all my children and will
;end them when I please , and nobody
las anything to do with it." They are 1
lying to accomplish' something that
hey will never realize, it's just an
'empty dream." I presume that most
A' those are persons who did not hear

luring week of erimnal court a few
lays ago, for all may rest assurel ;hat
the work will be pressed to the
.itmost until finished and all schools
who have teachers will be in full
iperation under the compulsory law,
ind those who wilfully and persistently
violate the law by not complying
with a few simple requi ements,
will certainly have to answer
aefore a Magistrate at once.
'We are going to be found like the J
Did preacher who was always trying
after the bad boy on the rear pew,
we are going after that man who will
not send to school, and see that ail
children from eight to fourteen,
where in reach of a school to attend
eighty days or more if the school be
that long.
God speed the day when, even if
we must have criminals to appear at
the bar of our dear old County that

extent that they may be able to
write their names, then we are sure
[>t less crimes being committed within
our bounds, as most of crimes committed
are traceable to some vile
habit; or lack ox that proper cultivation
that uplifts the human mind to
higher standard human life. May
the day soon dawn when those few
dissenters who now hold back in the
new harness, which they see they
must work in, see some of the fruits
of the compulsory law.
1 heard a boy say a short while ago
that he was drafted into military service
last year and sent to one of the
training camps, and he saw a company
of two hundred and fifty men
or boys lined up and all who could
not read and write were ordered to
step out of line and twenty-five remained
in line, and a part of this
twenty-five could scarcely read and
write any at all. This is a shameful
state of affairs when we learn that
all that group of young men went
from Horry County.
We desire the help of everybody
who will lend a helping hand to
press this work on till finished, an 1
every one who keeps watch will soon
repent and shout praise to the author
of this good law. I ask the cooperation
of all teachers and trustees in
my territory, and trust that I will
soon he able to meet them all, and get
the census complete so that all may
get down to strict business. I ask
that all teachers who have their lists
and have to report cases of absence
will report to me as directed below
each week, and thus relieve Superintendent
Bullock of the unneecessary
handling of these reports, and I
