The clearest seeing is that which
looks out from the brain without using
the eyes.
o
A lack of understanding on the
part of one man will often cause a
great loss to another.
r?
He who "knows more will be able to
do more just so long- as this old world
stands and rocks along.
o
The more a man has the greater is
his responsibility in the community
where he lives. If he is willing to
bear this responsibility and prove
equal to the task, it is fortunate for
both himself and those about him.
o
There are not many men who have
placed laws on the Federal Statute
books to benefit the common people,
like Asbury F. Lever did before he
resigned and retired to another positione.
It is a great pity that he did
not remain in the job for which he
was so well fitted. <
o
Time has been when only the merchants
of Horry County were considoied
wealthy, and not many of them.
Now the farmer - have been coming
along rapidly with the money end of
the proposition, and we have more
rich farmers than we formerly had
merchants or other business men.
o
The older residents of Conway have
lived long enough to see improvements
and changes in this town as
well as throughout the county that
thev never exnected to see. Just as
great changes will take place during
the lives of their children.
o
It pays to act in time when the
cotton patch gets white; for a storm
is liable to come along any day and
blow the locks out of the bolls only
to be lost on the ground. Act in time
and get out all of the cotton you can
while you can.
o
All is not gold that glitters, you
know. Many know this hut do not
act in accordance with it. Man>
another has stood by and thought thai
the other man was making fortune?
out of some business just because th<
gross income appeared to be large
He took it for granted that there wa;
a fortune in it without ever thinking
about the largo outgo that the othei
may have had.
+
ONE GOOD WAY.
Just so long as the people deligh
in spendihg their hard-earned mono}
for the many articles of finery anc
luxuries they do not need; just tha
long the high cost of living, cause:
partly by the profiteering and hoard
ing of goods, will continue to worrj
them. One good and sure way t(
bring down the cost of such things if
to do without them and not buy them
so that the supply in the country will
increase and when large stocks arc
held without any purchasers you will
see the cost go down.
