Mishoe was here from Horry one day recently on business. N. F. Nixon and Mrs. Ellen Nixon Cockfield, arrived in Conway on Tuesday of last week to spend the night. Mrs. Cockfield left on the early train the next morning. ? Crowds spent the time Tuesday night of last week- watching the returns from the second primary in the race for congress from the 6th district. m Get a towel rack at the Herald office and use the paper towels sold by the Herald. They are clean and sanitary and cost no more than linen towels when first cost and up-keep are countecT. E. M. Bullard, of the Loris section, was in Conway last week on business. He now has a number of farms # on hand for sale and is ready to offer attractive figures to any who may wish to purchase farms in that section of the country.' ***** T. N. Fullerton left here last week for his former home in North Caroline after winding up the affairs of the Farmers Warehouse for the season. E. W. Prince, of Gurley, was in Conway last week on business. * ? * * The telephones and telegraph lines have connected up this portion of the country not only with the outside world, but also the rural communities; until now when an election takes place, it is possible to get the number of votes cast, into the county scat in time for the people to know how the election went the same day that the votes are cast. A member of the firm of J. L. Butler & Brothers, large tobacco manufacturers of Reidsvile, N. C., spent about a week in this section recently cn business. m * * * * The materials have been ordered for the erection of the new addition to the Herald Building; but these materials are extremely slow in arriving owing to the scarcity of labor and the slow movement of freight on the railroads. * * * * It does not take leaf tobacco long to go to the bad after it taken on too much moisture. Sho was a loyal member of the P Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist church. The interment took place at R Lake Hill cemetery, near her R church, about five miles from Con- I way, the funeral services conducted I by the Rev. J. M. Lemmon, of the ^ Presbyterian church. She was a faithful wife and mother, a Chiistian hearted lady, one who < never failed to have a kind word for ?F1 everybody whom she met, whether chc high or low. She made duty the tro watchword of her life and she belonged to that class of Christian womanhood which blesses wherever it is found and leaves upon coming 9d generations the impress of nobleness and love. She is missed not only by FG Ihc members of her immediate fam- I i!y but by all those who knew her in j r this life. 1 J She is gone but her good example j o will not be forgotten. Her sons will j 3t live after her and they will no doubt j exemplify in their lives the many traits of goodness in the character of j j their mother and the teachings that the she left to them.
