The home of Tr. D. Knight, publisher
of tbe Sumter Herald, was destroyed
by fire last week. The house was
practically destroyed, but a fair proportion
of the furniture was saved.

FARMERS DISCOURAGED
OVER WEED PRICE
Farmaers who sold tobacco in
Conway the latter part of last week,
and also the growers who sold at
the other markets in the county, as
well as those who sold at the Mullins
Warehouses about the same
time; were discouraged at the low
prices they received for the. low
grades of tobacco they sold on the
floors. All cheap grades went off
for about a third of the price they
brought last year. Better grades
