Tobacco crops in some neighborhoods
are rather uneven caused by
lack of getting a good stand in the
beginning. Some of the plants are ;
ready to button out while other
plants in the same field are yet apf

R. J. BEVERLY AHEAD
IN CURING T8BACG0
,Rains have fallen in nearly all >f
tlu sections of Horry County but the
rainfall has been insufficient to provide
a.- much, moisture as the crop*
in some places needed. Crops in some
neighborhoods have been wilting n
the middle of the day, some tobacco
has fired up at the bottom and other
crops have failed to advance as rapidly
as they would if there had boon
more rain. Last week one tobacco
grower had already cured a barn of
tobacco. It is likley that there was
not another grower in the County
quite as early as this. This fanner
who got ahead of the others this
time is R..L Beverly of Bucks Township.
Ir. many neighborhoods growers
have been getting ready to fill
the barns late this week or early
next. Many were late in getting' a
stand in planting and it will lie two
or three weeks before the bottom
leaves arc ioad\ for curing.
