THE HORRY HERALD, COW
WAREHOUSE ENLARGES.
The Horry Tobacco Warehouse is
making a large addition to its quarters
by building on to the structure
in the rear. Last year several improvements
were made to this warehouse
and added to the capacity of
the building. This new addition
which will be finished in time for the
approaching warehouse business of
It# 19 tobacco season make the
warehouse still better and will aid in
handling the large crop that all tobacco
men are 'looking for.
o
PACKING HOUSE.
There was strong talk of erecting
a tobacco packing house near the depot
here; the work to be done by the
tobacco warehouses combined, ami
intended for their use in handling
the large amount of tobacco that is
sold on the Conway market every
season. It was stated last week that
they had failed to obtain a lot upon
which to put up the building and that
the enterprise had fallen through.

COUNTY CONVENTION
MAY 15TH AND 16TH
Horry to Put on Reconstruction
Work?Noted Speakers
Coming.
%
A reconstructive Convention for
Horry County wilt oe hel<l on the
night of the 15th and morning and
afternoon cf the l(ith of May, here
in Conway. The meetings will probably
be held in the Court House, but
more definite announcement will be
made later as to that and also as to
the hour of the meetings.
This Convention is something new
for Horry; probably nothing of its
kind has ever been pulled off down
hero before, and every one is urged
to co-operate to bring out of it the
success it deserves. It is to be in ,
the nature of a big County-wide rally
and everybody in the County is
especially invited to attend.
The program is being worked out
by the local committee and they are
ready to announce now that they
have secured as one of the speakers
Dr. W. T. LaPrade, Professor of
History and Kconomics in Trinity
College,. Durham, N. C. We arc, in
deed, fortunate to be able to get Di.
LaPrade. A'l of us who had th>
pleasure and opportunity of attending

among the best anywhere in ti e

snappy and to the point. ,
Every community in the County
will be asked to organize locally and
help put across some things that will
count for definite community unbuilding
which we hope will result
from these meetings.
This convention is specially put on |
to benefit the returned soldiers and J
sailors; and it is earnestly hoped
that every discharged soldier and
sailor in the Independent Republic
will certainly be present and taki
part in the aims of the Convention.
Some of the subjects to be dealt
with and discussed at these meetings
nvo: Health, Economics, Recreation.
Education, and Religion. These are
jail vitally important and necessary
j to the progress of every community,
and we must give the proper emphasis
and a proper place in our aftcrthc-war
program.
