? r ,

of Horry.
News came to Conway the first of
the week that the wife of Mr. Chas.
R Newton, a well-known citizen of
Sccastee township, had gone to look
foi a child who had been sent to hunt
cattle, and she herself was lost, an I
could not be found. Many people,
perhaps as many as seventy-five or
more, were aiding in trying to find
Mrs. Newton. Up to a late hour last
Tuesday no news had been teeeived
he re to show she had been found.
She is a lady of advanced age. On
Sunday morning a g ranch-child was
j sent off to look for the cow. Ho did
not return and Mrs. Newton went to
lock for them. She in turn \Vafc lost,,
as she did not return, and the husband
and others becoming alarmed
went to search for her. In the mean
time the grand-child had returned
and had not seen the grandmother.
At last accounts no word has been
received that the mystery has yet
been explained. It is the opinion of
many that being old she fell down
from exhaustion in some secluded
place in the woods.
