I There arc still cases of it in some | sections of Horry County, and many j oilier places in the State. CONWAY MOTOR CAR CO.. \\ ii d SOLDIER'S DISCHAR6E FULL OF DIFFICULTY Applied For by Dependent Families Who Are in Need of Aid v.T J \ EXEMPTION BOARDS ARE NOT CONCERNED - " ' " Applications Are Being Made in Needy Cases to Com manding Officers. There is a lack of understanding on the part of the people as to the early discharge of soldiers. We are speaking especially about those who did not go to France but were at some of the camps in this country when the armistice was signed, or were perhaps on the way to France and were stopped. Many people seemed to think that the Local Exemption Board could aid them in getting discharges and many applied to members of the board only to find that the Board no longer has anything to do especially in regard to discharges. It is understood that it would be impossible to discharge all of the soldiers at the camps at one time because demobilization must be done gradually, and the necessary military work of winding up matters after the war must be alttended to as well as a large force Uecpt in readiness for eventualities; but in particular cases where the soldiers are needed at home to prepare for agricultural oporations, or to take care of aged or helpless dependents, applications are made to the commanding officers of the soldiers by means of Affidavits ai 1 Certificates showing the conditions at home, and these applications when approved by the Commanding Officer usually result in getting a discharge for the soldier without \'( ry much delay. o ? Inflated prices of things at this time tend to keep up confusion in the minds of business men as to just what profits they are making by the operation. I HAS RESIGNED. A. J.
