know that Conway has a fine band
in the making. Conway Symphony
Band was organized here more than
a year ago and the men hud practice
at regular intervals. Now they
ait).being trained by an expert bandmaster
and the town will soon have
a band which will be the equal of
any in the State.

There are four homicide eases for
trial at the court next week, three of
the defendants being colored men
and one of the' defendants white.
These cases may take up considerable
time of the court. Owing to th^
possible absence of witnesses in the
army, there may be more than the
usual number of motions for continuance
made in the less important
cases to come before the court.

Second Trip to Conway.
Mi. S. I,. C. Fowler of R. F. D.
1, Tabor, N. C., an industrious farmer,
was in Conway last Monday for
the second time he has ever been to
the County Seat in his entire life of
fifty-two years. Mr. Fowler has
lived in Horry, win re he was born
fifty-two years a^o, all of his life
and was never never in Conway but
once before in all of that time.

LOCAL BOARD MOVES
The local exemption board is now
located on Main Street in the building
over Conway National Bank, in
the club rooms; ami this will be more
convenient not only for the people
who come to Conway to consult the
board but for the members of the
board itself and for the clerks who
are employed by the board.
The local board was busy since last
week preparing for questionaires
to the men between the ages of 18
and 21 and those between thirty-two
and thirty-six. Besides the work of
mailing the questionaires, the listing
of the classes above mentioned

As 1 have not written you in a
few days, and I have the time, I am
going to drop you a line and tell
you what I can. I am now back from
the front for the first time in about
seven months, not counting the time
I was in the hospital, six weeks
after being gassed, and believe me,
mother, 1 sure am tired of seeing

French advanced about twenty-five
miles, and I was in the American
division. The Americans got them
