How will it be if it should become impossible- to buy Hour, even adulterated, before the war is over? All this should cause the farmers to plant wheat and grind their own Hour. Then they will have the pleasure of using the real article and starvation will be a long way from the door. The most interesting race is that for Governor. The speeches of Andrew J. Bethca and John G. Richards, as well as the address of R. A. Cooper, for this office will no doubt be full of spice and make an interesting entertainment for the hearers. John T. Duncan is in the race again this year, and there is hardly anyone who can tell why he is. c MAKES GOOD SALES. Harrison Howell last Friday sold 788 pounds of leaf tobacco at the price of 41 cents, making one of the best sales of the week considering the quantity in the lot. , .. ? . . , ? ft ? NOT YET TESTED. The city water has not been passed on by the chemists. The first sample sent off some time ago was evidently lost in transit as Dr. Parker writes the Board of Health that Ivi never received it. Another sample taken from fiv different points in the city went oil last Friday and as soon as this has been analyzed the report on it wil1 he sent in here. The people are advised not to use the water for drinking purposes until the board ol health says that it is perfectly safe. Thursday of last week was a good day at the warehouses, the quantity sold being large and the prices very good. The day was rainy from about noon until late in the evening making it incon.:tk t for the farmers in that respect. The statement was. made last week that the sales would continue until late this month. The bulk of the ciop is being cured and brought in rapidly ever since the season opened and there would not be enough to keep the warehouses running aft?r that date. ? . NOTICE OF MEETING.
