HONORED SOLDIERS LEFT YESTERDAY One hundred and one registrants were summoned to Conway last Tuesday for military duty. It was one of the largest quotas ever sent from this county to Camp Jackson. ^ They left on the early train last , Wednesday morning for the camps. * N. B. Smart has his announcement in this issue for the office of Mag- . istrate in Bucks Township. He has filled that office already and gained valuable experience. H. N. Sessions lately located and arrested Joe Stanley, a negro slacker, at Loris, S. C., and put him in Jail. This negro had been notified three different times to appear for Military duty at Cnoway, and he had disregarded the notices every time. SDFFKUS FROM HAIL. \V. R. Shelley, a prominent farm r of Bucks township suffered a great jloss from the recent hail storm pa fling over that section. He lost five! acres of tobacco and fifty acres of cotton, and his loss has been estimated at from four to five thousand dollars. There was no specail eason apparent why so many gorw;rs should have brought their tobao !0 for sale on that day, but they 'ame in great mlnibers, and when the 30Iitical meeting was ready to begin :he farmers were more interested in the warehouse sales than they were in the speaking, so that the speaking >vas postponed until the afternoon. The total number of sales at* the warehouses that day was 149,467 pounds. This brought to the farmers the total sum of $48,425.18. Fou can divide the amount that the tobacco brought by the total amount of sales and you will see the high average price of the tobacco. Sales at Farmers Warehouse.
