The remains of Joseph R. A'lsbrook
were interred here last Sunday

of a large congregation of people
from various sections of this
county. He died on Saturday at (

for several months. He is survived
by his -widow and a number of children.
He was a member of the firm of
Allsbrook Bros., engaged in the general
mercantile business, and in
farming and the general real estate
business for many years. Moving to
San ford which was in the woods, then
a mere stopping point on the Atlantic
Coast Line Railroad, he was enterprising
and cleared up the land
and the place today shows his spirit
of enterprise and improvement, as
does the surrounding country for sev j
oral miles.
Joseph Ross Allsbrook was born
near Williamston, in Martin County,
N. (\. on Msiv 11th. 1He died at
Sanford, now known as Allsbrook,
S. C., on Juno 15th, 1918.
Ho camo to Horry County in Janu- <
ary, 1879, and was appointed as postmaster
al Allsbrook, then known as
Sanford, in February 1888. He served
in this capacity until his death.
He was first married to Miss
Martha M. Heaves, daughter of the
late Daniel M. Heaves of Round
Swamp, on September Gth, 1881. His,
first wife departed this life on December
25th, 1905. To this first
union were horn nine children, five !
of whom survive him: Mrs. D. F. !
McGougan, of Tabor, N. C; Joseph ,
G. Allsbrook, of Richmond, Va; 1
Brookie, Ogden and Miss Emma Alls i
brook, all of Allsbrook. S. C. He
was married to Miss Sallio Cobb, of
Reidsvillo. N. C., on September 9th,
1900, and the second wife departed
this life on September 29th, 1907.
On September 9th, 1908 he was married
to Miss Fannie A. Hardwiek,
who now survives him. He is also
survived by two sisters: Mrs. G. W.
Andrews and Mrs. A. M. Riddick, of
Scotland Neck, N. C., and by one
brother, Newsome B. Allsbrook, of
Allsbrook, S. C.
He was a man of very pleasant
address, a true and pleasant friend
to all who knew him. Identifeid with
the growth and development of that
section of the county, his push and
energy will be missed by that sec- '
tion.
The funeral services were conducted
by the. Rev. E. L. McCoy of the
Conway Methodist church.

ANNETTE KELLERMANN
STAR OF THE PICTURE
An net to Kellermann is the foremost
artist of her type in all the world.
Her personal story is almost as remarkable
as the one she depicts for
you. This justly-famed woman,
whose aquatic feats have given her
world-wide reputation anil whose
figure is regarded as the standard of
feminine physical perfection, was
bom in Australia. As a one-day old
infant her body was placed in a tin
quart measure and there was room
to spare. She was a weakling child
and all through her earlier years she
was obliged to wear metal leg
braces. Swimming and athletics
made her the most perfect living
specimen of her sex.
M iss Kellermann was the first wo'
man in the world to establish long|
distance swimming records, almost
all of which have never been equalled.
In the world of the theatre she is
uniformly a favorite with millions of
people, who have seen her either in
important musical productions or In
American vaudeville.
William Fox, the prodcuer of "A
Daughter of the Gods," wishes to
pay tribute to his splendid star. She
is a woman of vast courage and
great resources. She is brave, pa-,
lient, gracious and charming; a woman
of ever-increasing popularity j
and every hit of which reward she
richly deserves.
Annette Kellermann, in "A Daugh
tor Of The Gods," William For'sj
(ireat Million Dollar Motion Picture I
Production, will bo shown at The
Pastime Theatre, in Conway, S. C., j
for one day only, Friday June 21st. j
