THURSDAY, JUNE 13, 1913
You had as well begin to buy
stamps today because everybody else
will.
o
If a man wishes to help in this war .
he had better do it now; for some
time it may be too late.
Go to the limit and take a thousand
dollar's worth of the war savings
certificates.
? .1
The purchase of thrift stamps will
pr ove whether you are a saver or a
spendthrift.
n
Win the war by saving. The government
is setting the example by
offering the people the war savings
.certificates.
The United States stands behind
the war savings and thrift stamps.
There is no better security for you
or I. .
o
Save for hard times by putting a
hundred or two dollars in war :av
ings stamps today. Take a thousan i
dollars worth if you are able to do it.
o
In order that South Carolina shall
come out among the leaders in war
savings stamps, we must all buy as
many of the stamps as we can. Lets
make a beginning today.
o
Most people have a roll laid away
somewhere. Get it out today
and put it in the war savings
stamps. What wou'd become of your
roll should the Germans win this
war ?
A war savings stamp is the best
sticker on the job you over saw. It
will stick and stick until some tini"
after the war the owner will need',
some money and need it bad.
will be able to got it out of his war
savings certificates.
n
One who is able and still will n t
aid the government by taking stamps
is a slacker and no other term d - I
scribes him. The certificates are
really as good as green backs could
be.
We are in the peak of the war an 1
the boys need all the money we can
raise. War savings stamps form one
of the best plans for savings ever
Revised by human minds. Join the
army of savers today by signing up i
to purchase stamps.
o
In buying the war savings stamps
on the plan which is explained in this
issue of the paper, you loan your sav
ings to the government and the more
you take of them the less direct taxes
will likely have to be paid to finance
the war. The purchase of the
stamps will help in many ways.
o
No man can be called unpatriotic
who wiii put all he can in the war
savings certificates; If you have n >t
learned what they are yet, read this
issue of the paper and you will find
out. J

PASTIME WILL
PRESENT BIG PICTURE
One of the greatest pictures ever
brought to Conway is "A Daughter
of the Gods," produced by the Wil
nam Fox Company, with Annette
Kellermann as the star. The actual
cost of the picture was said to bo
one million and one hundred dollars.
The total number of persons appearing
in the picture was 21,218 and
the largest number used in a single
scene was nearly twenty thousand
actors and actresses. The number of
feet of film is 283,000, proving by
this fact that it is long enough to
justify the admission price.
In producing one of the scenes of
this picture a Moorish city was
built at a cost of $350,000.00 and this
was necessarily destroyed in producing
the scene.
