American soldiers, all the Americans on board the British troop ship Moldavia, which was toipedoed and sunk Thursday morning', were saved and have been landed at a southern British port. No officers' names are among the list of missing and it contains the names of only two noncommissioned omc ts. Co. 5Sth Infantry. Washington.?The War Department today gave out the names of members of Company B, 58th United States infantry, fourth division, miss ing- from the torpedoed British merchant steamer Moldavia. The Moldavia carried 4S0 American soldiers of the Fiftyeighth infantry. All reported lost belonged to Company B. i London.?Capt. Johnson, an American officer, who was on board the Moldavia, gave a Daily Telegraph representatives this account of the sinking: "The ship was struck just forward of the engines on the port side. All the troops were in their bunks sleeping in their uniforms. There was a loud explosion and then the ship's whistle was blown, which was a signal for everybody to come on deck. The men had been assigned to particular boats and boat drill had been held every day. The men assembled in perfect order. Their discipline' was splendid, the best I ever saw. "The Mbi&ivia listed to port, but righted herself and ran on for about 15 fminutes to avoid being hit again. Then she began to sink rapidly. Or ders were given to lower the boats and rafts and we got off. "Destroyers had been circling around us all the time, and as soon as the ' Moldavia was struck they dropped several depth charges. No second torpedo was fired, and we saw nothing of the submarine. We remained in the life, boats until the ship sank when we were taken on board the destroyers. "As soon as the men got aboard the boats and rafts they began laugh Ing and singinf, and when the ship sank they gave three cheers. Less than a quarter of an hour after the British armed merchant troop ship Moldavia, with American troops on board, had been torpedoed off the southeast of England on Thursday morning, virtually every -man had gone over the sides of the vessel into the lifeboats. Edwin and Clyde Bosley, of North Try, Vermont, leaped from the deck and were drowned. The Bosley brothers were on guard when the ship was struck. There was ,a sharp list, and they evidently believed she was turning over. The remarkable aerial activity along the western battle front continues with both sides participating ( in air fighting and bombing operations. On American Front. The German troops that face th< Americans along the lines of the Toul sector have been replaced. Foe; some time the Teutons there werr> | units which had been \vithdrawn from Russia. These have been replaced by Bavarian reserve regiments. It is probable that the men withdrawn have been hurried north to participate in the coming renewal of the great German offensive in Picardy and Flanders. Troop Ship Sunk. The British mercantile cruiser Moldavia, carrying American troops from America to Europe, has been torpedoed and fifty-six Ameri an soldiers are reported missing. The liner was sunk Thursday morning, according to an official statement by the British admiralty. The Catholic Party also is seriously annoyed with the militarists. The Crown Prince is exceedingly unpopular owing to his military incapacity. The people .suspect that his voice too often boars weight in the war councils.
