TO ATTEND MEETINGS
The council of defense for Horry
County with Mr. F. A. Bunoughs as
chaiman, aided by many other patriotic
citizens of Conway and Horry,
arranged the series .of meeting*.'
which have been going on for the
past several weeks in order that the
people may hear about the great importance
of the liberty loan and helpng
the government by buying thrift
and war savings stamps. No better
plan could have been selected than to
have good speakers tell the facts
upon which these movements arc
oased. The meetings have already
done great good, hundreds have mot
the sneakers nnd .*-/ ?
, ...... v/pymii'^ u II11U1 nva,icn
tliey did not have before, and
what they have heard has caused
.hem to begin to think and to act on
i t.
By saving and investing the savngs
in liberty bonds and war savHgs
stamps, the people may help to
rvin the war in a much easier way
?han by having to pay the entire cost
>f it by direct taxation. Unless we
ill wake up and invest our money in
his way now while wo. can, a direct
.ax upon each and every man will
Kconie necessary. He who joins
!i the movement and invests his savngs
in this came really d ies the
r st thing that lie could do in his own
r.terest. The war is costly aiul will
onlinuo to cost groat amounts of
noney. When the government needs
