NOT A CANDIDATE IN
PRIMARIES
To the people of the sixth Congressional
District:
1 desire to announce to the people
of the sixth Congressional district
that I will not be a candidate for
Congress in the primaries this sumpier.
Two years ago after receiving
the splendid vote that the people gayme
I said that if nothing unusual
happened I would again be a candidate
for Congress in 1918. But we
are now engaged in the most terrild i
war of history and we are on trial I
before the world. In order to win
this war we must present a united
front and it is the duty of every true
American to forget for the time being
all thoughts of personal ambition and
private gain. I believe that this is a
year when the people will not want
any political. agitation that they can
possibly avoid for there are other and
more important things that will claim
their attention. Keeling this way I
j have derided not to run for Congress
this year. ! wish to thank my friends
for their splendid services in my be

the future I hope to again ask fot
