Their efforts in producing- and conserving- food, buying Liberty Bonds, doing- Red Cross work, and many other forms of activity have shown their deep interest; but we as a group of teachers and trustees, have not yet united to j do our bit in any specific way. Pa- j triotism is not only a duty, it should he a privilege. There is one field ' of opportunity which seems especially open to us as teachers and trustees. viz: the sale of War Saving Stamps. This sale is designed to help our boys and girls, and our men and women who have limited means. ! It helps by teaching them love Oi country?that love which is willing to sacrifice. It keeps them interested in the war and in the part which ov- j cry one, as an individual, must play in winning it. It helps hy encouraging economy and thrift on the part of each purchaser and enabling them to put at interest small sums which will he needed in the days to conK*. | Initially it helps l>v furnishing money j fur the successful culmination of the Will'. IMPORTANT NOTICE I ON COTTON SEED ! "Reports have readied this office that farmers in certain sections of the State are feeding- seed to cattle and in some instances using- seed for fertilizers. Such a policy on the part of any producer is shot-sigh ted when the prevailing price for cotton seed b obtainable and results in an econom-e loss as well as destroying valuab'c food for man and beast. "The l-'ood Administration would like ot see this wasteful practice eliminated. Rule -1 of the Special Rules of the United States Fooil Ailministvn. tion prohibits the use of cotton see l for feed or fertilizers without the written consent of the State Food Administrator. It is probable that few farmers who are thus practicing this wasteful method realize the loss Loth to themselves and to their fellow man resulting in the utilization of cotton seed in this manner.
