response to efforts made by the people
hero under Mr. J. C. Spivcy, local
fuel administrator, has written the
coal companies about the delayed
shipments to dealers hero and it is
hoped that this will result in some
definite relief in a short time. The
local fuel administrator stands ready
to do anything in his power to relieve
the stiuation, and wlil listen sit
any suggestions the people here may
desire to make in regard to the matter.

Friends unci relatives of Thad Port
were pained to learn of his death at
Camp Jackson the first of this week. /
He was of the number first drafted
from this county. His remains arrived
here and were accompanied by
members of the Red Cross to the
home of his father, B. F. Port, near
Tort Harrvlson. His death evidently
resulted from the epidemic of Meas
les and Meningitis which has attack- h
ed many of the soldiers at Camp t
Jackson during the past two or three o
months. He is.survived by his father
and several brothers and sisters. a
