A. M. E. CONFERENCE
HELD AT CONWAY

The 25th Session of the North
Eastern S. O. Conference of the African
Methodist Church, met with
the church at Conway on last Friday,
November 23rd. The exercises lasted
through three days coming to u
close on Sunday. There were delegates
and visitors from warious
parts of the State. The delegates
and visiting: preachers were enter1
tained by the membejrs in their
homes.
Rev. W. D. Chapel I c, D D., the
Bishop, presided, assisted by the five
presiding elders: A W. Heyward, D.
J. Tnrpin, D. P. Pendergrass, J. V.
l.omax and 1). C. Deas.
There were exercises of welcome
on Friday night. Addresses were
i delivered by the pastor, J. S. Coe,
M. A. Woodbury and H. 11. Wilson,
i pastor of the Baptist church.
Senator H. L. Buck delivered a
1 brief but highly interesting address
of welcome on the part o'f the town
and its people. Many matters of
great importune to the race were
mentioned in the course of his address.
The Bishop responded and
stated in the course of his remarks
that the negroes are loyal to the
government.
