There was to have been a hearing
here last Thursday before Clerk of
Court W. L. Bryan, acting as Special
Master, in the case of L. B. Ballon
against J. E. Nicholas; but at the request
of the parties the hearing was
postponed to another date.
F. E, Smith of Galivants Ferry was
in Conway one day last week.
G. M. Little of Loris was among
those visiting Conway last week.

Many are asking about the date on
which remained of the registered
men in this county will be examined
for military duty. Up to the last
news from the department, the au
thorities were undecided except that it
seemed to be the aim to go on will,
the work of examination as soon a.~

has been pending to provide the funds

sent to the governor of each state
asking his opinion as to when the
! work should be continued, and all of

were already overworked and should

know that the hard time is yet to
come. What the governments wants
to do is to husband its resources and
save its food supplies, by increasing
production and saving it after it is
produced, so that at no time during
the struggle, will the pinch of hunger
cause us to languish. Be sure that you
join the movement and help out all
you can.
The county will be canvassed during
the week beginning October 21st to
register at least three thousand homes
in tins county, and pledge them with
'.he government in the great movement
to save food and to carry out
the plans of National Food Administration.
