foro ENGINEER WAS ' NEARLY HELPLESS Had Rheumatism So Bad Couldn't Put On Shoes? Vitona Ends His Troubles Greenville, S. C., is the home of one of the happiest men in the State today, and Captain C. C. Blaekman is now telling his many friends it is all due to the recovery of his health by the use of the marvelous new medicine, Vitona. Ctptain Blaekman, who resides at 840 Washington Street, is a locomotive engineer, runs fast passenger train No. 38, New York to New Orleans Special, between Greenville and Atlanta, and is undoubtedly one of the best known and most popular railroad men in South Carolina. Jt was in a recent conversation with J. V\. Bullock and Bartow B. Henry that Captain Blaekman related his experience with Vitona and made the following statement which he authorized published for the benefit of others: "When I learned about Vitona and decided t<> try it, I had been suffering with sciatica rheumatism for five years. At times my leaders felt like they were tied in knots and the pain in my hips was awful. After sitting down for awhile I couldn't get up without help and for weeks I c uldn't reach my feet to put on and take of: my shoes. I could hardly crawl inio the cab of my engine and when I did get in it was an effort for me to work the throttle. I lost weight and strength continually. Nothing I wou'd cat agr eed with me and I had terrible pains in the pit of my stomach. I was so w Cok and crippled up that l had to hobble around on a cane and vas continually losing time fi\ in my work. When I got to the end of my ( inns 1 could hardly make it home. I was so nervous and racked with pain 1 could hardly sleep and I tell you life was more of a burden than of pleasin e. "My condition seemed to be gett'ng worse all the time and nothing seemed to reach my case and help me until 1 began taking Vitona. A few day's i;si of this medicine proved to be just what my system needed, my leaders became pliant and 1 could stoop d wn and get about easily. It is the only medicine that ever gave me any nli ?f and since taking a few bottles 1 never suffer from rheumatism and don't h'ie any more time from my work. I can now hep into my cab like a boy and handle my old engine as well us 1 cculd when 1 first >t my his, M\ appetite is fine, I o: n cot an. t' ing I want and enjoy it and I have alsgained fifteen pounds in w >gh' bosides. No sir, 1 have no more use for my walking slick now, my pi in an . nervousness arc gone, I sleep I ke n lop and feel like a new man. Viton: is undouht* <l!y the finest medicine < n. earth and 1 would g<> out of my wn\ to te-i suffering- people about it." They were all names of young men who cither made no claim for exemption or waived any claim that may have been made. They were certified as liable by the eastern district board in time to meet the requirements from this county, while the district boaid is no doubt passing on the claims and appeals made by the others on the list, and many of whom will no doubt be required to go forward on October 3rd, when another 40 per cent of the quota will be required to move. ' They were all white men, the colored soldiers as recently stated, being put off to the last so as to be mobilized together. The men answered the call sent out to them by the local board without a single exception. The entire ninety-seven, it was stated met promptly at the headquarters of the local board at the county court house. After answering the roll call, they were placed at the hotels and boarding houses of the town, and some in private homes to be taken care of for the night. The local board attempted to make arrangements for breakfast for the boys at Florence; but in this they failed the word coming back to the effect that owing to the great number of soldiers passing through the city on that day, the hot< Is and restaurants would be unable to serve them. For this reason breakfast was served to them before they left on the carlv train here. On Friday night the men were gathered at the Pastime theater where several citizens delivered patriotic addresses. On Saturday morning a crowd of people were at the depot to see the men off. It was remarkable with what cheerfulness and good will the young men left home and friends to join the national . colors, well knowing that many may never return. They showed by their acts that they know what they are g*oing for. The names of those leaving on last Saturday morning are as follows: 5?Benj. Franklin Lillye, Gal. Ferry, S. C. 1894 13?Chris.
