Waste nothing, use everything.

Let no lands lie out this year.
o
The most useless and aggravating
occupation is that of the knocker.
It pays to live and let live. No
other rule will answer.

Starving is a hard thing, but we
are willing to do it if it is necessary
to beat Germany,
o??
If you can do nothing except to
null down what others are doing for
Heaven's sake sit till and do nothing.

Germany was warring on this coun
try long before the severing of diplomatic
relations. There is abundant
proof of it on every hand.
o
Horry has aided the food situation
this year with a large Irish potato
i rop. Now lets see what we can do
in the way of large crops of corn and
sweet potatoes.
o
Let us do our full part while the
boys are away. Althuogh they have
riot left yet, still we know they are
going.
o
Any useful work or business ii
this world has its own peculiar pari
to play in the general developmen
and upbuilding of the nation as j

No country in the wrold has mad
greater improvement than Horr
County during the last ten years. Le
this continue and we will show to th
South one of the richest regions wit
in the United States and we will do j
within the next five to ten years.

RAINS AND HAIL
DAMAGE THE CROP!
Various suctions of Horry County
were visited during- the past few i
days by heavy rains, accompanied by J
wind, and in some places hail; which}
resulted in serious damage to some j
of the farmers. It was reported in
Conway that a heavy rain near
Wampee damaged the cotton and
other crops, washing up a cotton
patch for one grower entirely. Heavy
rains near Bucksville resulted in
lifting several bridges along the public
road, the wind blew down the
corn, and in many places last week it
was entirely too wet to plow or work
the land. Wind and hail at Toddvillc
last Tuesday destroyed a cotton
crop and a quantity of fine tobacco.
It seems however that the damage
dt.no by the wind, rain, and hail, s<
far during the season has been limited
to small territories, and has not
been general.
We make your watch run on ;
time.
Everything you get from us
is guaranteed satisfactory. I
