vessels of 7,000 or 8,000 tonnage will
be used and therefore they are going
to put in bids for the larger type,
their arrangements here being amplr
to take care of the heavier ships
Their chief engineer is now in tin
North, looking over shipyards and
getting points on proper equipment
which will be installed in the neat
future. It is expected that the next
few weeks will see a rush of skille<
workmen here, starting the construe
tion of a number of large vessel,
simultaneously. An idea of the siz<
of the new ships is gleaned from th
fact that the Lenape of the Clyd
Line is under 5,000 tons.

that the American Red Cross
was discriminating against the nursing
sisterhoods of the Catholic
church. Cardinal Gibbons took up
the matter with the Red Cross and
has received the following letter
from Eliot Wads worth, acting chairman
of the American Rod Cros>,
