It having been called to the attention of the regimental commander that there is a general opinion pre vailing to the effect that men who have signed up under the conscription act on June 5. 1917, can not enliit in the National Guard, the follow ir?g letter from the chief of the militia bureau to the adjutant general of the State regarding voluntary enlistment is hereby published for the in fermatk n of all concerned: (a) The Secretary of War directs i e to inform you that no order stopj 'ng voluntary enlistments on June ">, 1917, is contemplated, and that per.4<ns, registered as required by the selective service law may continue to enlist voluntarily until they have been actually drafted for service under the selective service law.
