Although all neutral countries failed to respond at once to the suggestion of the United States that the world join this country in protest, yet the rest of the world sees by this time that the interest of the United States, is the interest of all in this matter of right, and they will be ready to join in their efforts against Germany sooner or later if the destruction of neutral hipping goes on much longer. in i f 1 1 1 y i ? <ifP^|^pw^!^y^pfP>y| -? i rr ^"; COPY SUMMONS FOR RELIEF (Complaint Not Served.) This simple inexpensive laxative compouond brought almost immediate relief And Mrs Jewell wrote to Dr. Caldwell about her case. In her letter Mrs. Jewell says, nl had tried so many things for the piles, without being helped at all, I had about given up hope of ever being any better. I knew it was the condition of my bowels that caused them, and after I had taken a bottle of Syrup Pepsin I knew it was just the medicine I needed. COUECfiONSiLLEGAL SAYS THE GOVERNOR r rom many sources, by letters jr.d by word of mouth, I have received complaints that Mr Richardson's leputies, with his approval, have made illegal collections of money; that they held up presumed violators ?[ the game laws, in the field, an I ;lemanded cash payments of fines, without process provided by law." The foregoing are sensational charges embodied in a message read from Governor Manning in the senate, in which he vetoes the act, recently passed by the general assembly, placing the office of chief game warden in the general election in 1918 and providing for the retention bf the incumbent, A. A. Rrichardson, in office until his successor is elected and qualified. The governor charges extravagance in the operation of the office, isserting that he does not contest the placing of the office in the generil election, but he depreciates the effort to legislate a man into office. "The conduct of the office of chief ?ame warden under Mr. Richardson, and the bold lobby for this legislation," says the message, "forced me to the conclusion that the election at < the remote date specified was simply > proposed as a screen to blind you to : the sinister aspects of a deplorable situation." When the message was receivod,; Senators J. F. Williams. Ronhum ?nrl Lee made ghort speeches, ' the teher which was that the dhargcs of Gov ernor Manning were of so serious a nature that the senate ought to take i very careful investigation into them before taking any action that would seem to sustain the governor in his position.
