Crowds quickly gathered at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McDermott where there was a small blaze on the roof catching from a spark, it is supposed from the chimney or stove flue. Estimates made by the head <;uartcrs of the South Carolina Sun day School Attendance are that the probable total attendance in this State will be between 100,000 and '{120,000. Every school is asked to aim at a f>0 per cent, increase, ami if this is done there ought to be n ore than 200,000 in attendance. Singleton at Bueksport was burned to the ground last Sunday morning- and all of the furnishings were totally destroyed except one bet! and about two mattresses. The fire was thought to be the result of a spark. SNOW VISIT COMES DURING COLD SNAP The first days of this week were very cold in this section. On Sunday night there was sleet but it had disappeared before morning. Near Tabor, N. C., and other points n#jar the North and South Carolina State line, there was a considerable fall of snow and it was still on the ground Monday about noon time. S. S. OFFICERS MEET ANO FIX DATES At a meeting of officers of the Horry County Sunday School Association Saturday it was decided to hold the next County Convention at Union Church, near Toddville. March 14th and 15th was adopted as the dates. Arrangements have been made to have both of the field workers of the South Carolina Sunday School Association with us at the Convention. Miss Ravenel is an expert in Elementary work. She spent a week in the county a short time ago and mai> many friends. Mr. Webb is General Secretary of the Association and will bring us many messages of help and encouragement on various phases of Sunday School work.
