Perry.) lie was a son of Robert and Martha (Graham) McCracken. He was horn Dec. 4, 18.T2 and departed this, life Sunday Jan. 28, 1917. Aged 84 years, 1 month, and 24 days. He was married to Miss Francis Skipper August 19, 1858. To them were ho) n 10 chilcli en. The second, Arno'd Mc Kefer, died in infancy, the seventh, Mrs. Francis Galven A1 - i ford, died April 25, 191G. The other j eight, viz: John Thomas, He v. Mitchell Asbury, Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Williamson, Wm. Kelly, Jasper r.Iwell, Gilbert McDuffey, Wade Jackson, and Arhtur Cornelius McCracken are still living. He has 30 grand children and 12 great grand children, making a total of 42. He professed religion and united with the Baptist church during the war in the Sixties, between the North and the South. He has been afflicted with blindness for several years, yell.' and his feeble wife, who still sur\ives him, lived to a good old age, having the confidence and esteem of a host of neighbors and friends, as a good man, honest, honorable, neighborly and upright, and whatever his limitations all was meant good. The writer visited him three times during his brief acquaintance, bad prayer with him and for him, in which he manifested special interest and seemed to be greatly encouraged, cheered, comforted, and his spiritual life quickened. We are informed that immediately after the first visit, last Spring, he erected the family altar and kept it up; and conducted the prayer service on Friday night following which he became seriously ill some time during the night, after which ho was unable to speak, and continued to grow weak until he passed away Sunday even i 11 jjt at o :'20. To his son, Rev. Asbuvy and to the writer as well perhaps as others he expressed himself as being prepared to leave this world, and left satisfactory assurance that he has gone home. A good man has gone; his race is run. His place and face will be missed at home.
