Last but not le Our regular customers CHARGE OF PEDDLING WITHOUT ANY LICENSE Last Monday, Morris Goodman, a Jewish Peddler was up before Magistrate W. H. Chestnut, charged with peddling in this county in 191(5, with out having paid the license required by the laws of this State. The law requires the following charges for license to peddle: Foot peddler $75.00 One Horse Wagon $100.00 Two Horse $150.00 The State showed at the trial that Goodman had made sales as a peddler to Mr. Robert Squires on Nov ember 4th, 1916. The State proved by Mr. K. L. Mishoe that he was J seen driving a wagon etc., as a peddler during that year in the county of Horry. Morris showed a receipt from two magistrates in the county showing he had already naid a fine for this offense and claimed he had not peddled any since the date of his former trial. PROPF ;et for an Automobile see the D< MJTSLE KILLS I ST. MATTHEWS CHILD: I St. Matthews, Jan. 13.?Abie, the year old son of S. Savitz, was run low p. and instantly killed here this afternoon about 4 o'clock by F. L. VVienges' automobile. The accident i )ccurred near the railway station. 1 Mr. \\ icnges was on his way home j aeing accompanied by his children. Mr. Wienges states that just as he ; was passing near the power house ^ :lie child suddenly emerged from be- ( nind a wagon. He made an effort to { swerve his car but he was so close jpon ^the child that it was impossible to clear him, whether he struck the child or ran over him Mr. Wien- 1 ges says he does not know. The im- ] pact of the car seems to have been ' about the head and face. The child was immediately taken ] into the car and hurried up town to medical aid but upon examination it was found that death had followed closely upon the wound. From all particulars it appears that the killing' was purely accidental. Mr. Wienges is an expert driver. He is greatly downcast on account of the tragedy. The remains were taken to Charleston tonight for interment in the Jewish cemetery. o NOTICE TAX SALES.
