Young man this is the time to use wuste, in more ways than one, too. 9 "What one mart thinks amounts to very little; but the opinion of the whole community counts more. It is the business of some people j to tear down and destroy. When they can get nothing* else to work on they will take up your reputation and try that, 3* /f? .. t. 6 " "*Everv man must think that hisi " I own is the best. Don't blame the other man for doing the very same thing that you have always done yourself, ; ? >?. 4 o / The high price of cotton this Fan Is due almost entirely to the scanty production. The farmers owe it not only to the storm but to the ravages of the boll weavil in some of the cotton producing states. Men who put their families above everything else are to be admired the world over. The family is an old cr institution than the school or the church. We would get along badly without the church, but we could dO| without it nv/;h better than we could i the family. There is no society or, institution in the whole world more! important than the family. Remember this and act accordingly. There is some timber yet to be cut| in this section of the State. Man.\ tracts already cut over once have grown a new supply which is of course' not as heavy as the former cuttings; but nevertheless present conditions seem to warrant a second going over these lands. Finally all of the timber in this part of the country will be cut and removed, and then the lands will necessarily have to be cleared up and planted in useful crops. After the timber in Horry County has all been taken and removed, we predict that agriculture will make rapid strides from year to year. . ?^ When the farmers of Horry County ail get their business on a cash t?suPlwftftd>^f-^felthe trade ahead plaiy then this county will enjoy a period ftff^jraspfcrtty that it has never enjoyed before in history. We have been asking the farmers to try to work to such an end during all of the more than fifteen years than we have printed this paper fdr them. They have paid some attention it is :Y \ \ (evident from the way some of then have talked to us. - o A small mortgage on the farn " mow will accumulate interest unles : .you pay it and almost before yoi know it, this will be a great bij (debt. Avoid this all that you can b: ! meeting the interest payments i 1 nothing else. Endeavor to keep th< debt the same Size, if you can d< nothing more. o In this day the things which giv< the most service are the thing; which succeed the most and mak< ' 4 the most show in the world. -o One faculty of th^ successful mar is the knack of keeping what h( needs to do at his finger ends Things forgotten are the bane ol many a business. The public expects you to namember the smallest detail in their service. (O The smallest mistakes may lead tc gravest results. o There is usually a spirit of animosity and jealousy between different local boards in the smpller towns; and this operates against the good effect of what they try to do, and it also appears ridiculous to the general public for whose benefit they are acting. Individuals should get above such things no matter how small the community in which lie acts and remember the people always regarding of any local spite. u This io the time when everything requires that you pay when you j enter. o Useless was.c is one of the greatest causes 0+* the higrh cost of living and it always has been. o The demand for automobiles In this country has outgrown the supply right in the face of the hundreds of big fhetoric3. People in all section'; of the country want cars of the different makes but the agents "nnot supply them except in very limited quantities.
