RALLY PROHIBITION VOTERS. '
As Secretary of the Prohibition
0 mini tie 2 in Horry I feel coi.si.ain1
to make an appeal to the ngh.
linking voters 01 the county, 'li.^r..
, an okl truism that there is nothing 5
orth having that we do not have U ^
ork tor. Generally it is tquall> jy
ue that we have to work to kec^
nngs worth having. By all force*
L 1 .g.-t and righteous joining hands 1
1 a uctermined efioit we carricu cu>
...to ior Prohibition at the las. electa.
We put the law on thv. statute
ouks and nave had a Governor Wat s
;.s fearlessly and heroicly enlorcec. v
Lie law. The den.011 rum is hard te
own. He is back at us again in the
ucop's clothing of Cole L. Blease r
.ho has been for .years the direc ^
cprosentative cf the liquor dealer,
/no want to sell the soul damning ^
lull in this State.
We are now laced with anothe:
ruis equally grave as we faced last j
var. Aw tlie election next week the s
rotcrs of the State in choosing a \
governor will say whether they want <
lie law to continue .to be enforced, or j
0 be made of none effect. The issue
s clear. Governor Manning, asking
or the endorsement of the people, 1
.lands squarely for the enforcement 1
)f the law. Blouse running for a
hird term against the traditions and
justoin of the American people,
stands for the open sale of liquor and
.mrestrained' vice in every form. If
die Prohibition forces arc to hold
.v. hat we have gained we must rally
Lo the emergency. We must endorse
Jov. Manning's enforcement of the
law, or we will have a situation worse
than over by allowing a man who
stands squarely for things of th
devil to be supreme. By the help of
God wc won the fight once. We can
hold the iort now if we only see to it
that every man who believes in the
enforcement of the liquor law comes'
out to the polls and votes. We are
up against now tve same organization
wo defeated last year. Wc can win,
but we must fight to do so.
Some of Biease's followers seem to
think because he can tell smutty1
jokes and make a loud noise that hei
is a fit. subject to he the Governor ol
a great State. I have a steam whistle
that can let off more hot air and
make a louder noise than he can,
and it has never asked even for one
term in the Governor's oflice^ much
loss three. On the other hand Governor
Manning is a high tone Christian
gentleman who knows his duty
and discharges it fearlessly and with
dignity to his high office. He is a
gentleman and no politician, .and does
?.ot even stoop so low as to answer
the mud-slinging, false and unfounded
on truth as it is, that lilcase has
indulged in. We need a maw like
that as the chief executive <jf our
State.
Gov. Manning stands for everything
that, is cl an, noble a <1 upragh*
and for the uncompromising en for c
ment of the law. In the name of the
cause of Prohibition and good govcrnment
I appeal to you to do your utmost
for the cause. The whiskey interests
and the blind-tigers are at
work and will work to the end. The1
forces of right and righteousness
have won and can win again, but to
win every man must do his duty-!
Remember this is not now a political!,
fight, it is a light for civic righteousnews.
