called in acordance wifch the rules of

Township Supervisors.
Senator Buclc states to the reporter
for the Herald that arrangements
have been made for the County Board
of Commissioners to place the Township
Supervisors in the coming Primary.
Boxes will be provided at
each one of the voting places for this
purpose. While the machinery for
the election of these officers is not
complete, yet in order to give the
people an opportunity to select the
man they want for this position,
these arrag'ements have been made.
It will require some extra work on
the part of the managers, but the
election will be held the best way j
1 possible under the cirumstances.

By an error the card of Mr. O. E.

Work Day. The idea is to get

Many questions are asked as to
when the new hotel wfll open for business.
The only given is that it
is intended to ' open it as soon as it
can he completely finished. An experienced
manager will be in
charge and the contractor hopes that
ho can have it ready by the first of
the cool weather, if not sooner.

During the last few weeks several
cases of diptheria have developed in
this section of the county; but the
cases are isolated and the board ol
health and the physicians have beer
taking every precaution to guard
against the spread of the malady.
It has been brought about, it i
thought by the unusual conditions ot
storm and rain which visited this
section for the past several weeks.

My dear Editor:
For practically my whole life I have
been in active service for my country
as a soldier, but this is the first occasion
I have ever had of accompanying
a Regiment to a foreign State or
country composed wholly of men from
my native State It gives me a peculiar
pleasure to know thai 1 am a
part of a Regimnet of soldiers made
up cf the purest and best men of the
Palmetto State. While we are speeding
across the plafris and prairies of
Texas, forging onward toward the
Border which divides the United
States from Mexico, 1 feel that 1
have as ionr. ades, men who have a
firm foundation and men on whom
the Leader of Our Country can deI
pond. They will uphold the honor
and integrity of our Country. In our
Regiment there are about twentyfive
men from Horry County. Just
