Tobacco growers Were Numerous in Town Through the Day. The Conway tobacco market had a peat opening; on last Tuesday, Auglst 1st. Only two of the Conway warehouses are running this year. I'his fact has apparently in no way educed the amount coming to the market. The two warehouses that ire running, the Peoples ami the Horry Warehouse are evidently selling what the four would have sold if tiie wiiole number had been running. Tobacco growers came to Conway on Tuesday for the opening sales in numbers. They were compelled to remain here practically oil day. The floors of both of the warehouses were tided with piles of the golden leaf and the sales and paying off lasted thioughout the day. The prices ranged from twentytwo and one half eeats pe r pound downward, according t<> the grade and condition of 'the leaf. No complaint whatever was heard arout the prices realised for the product. Some of the tobacco sold was of low grade, while sonic of i* was of good quality* The general impression was that the leaf brought satisfactory pricse. o Miss iMollie .Jones is visiting in Mullins.
