of the Times in an article, criticizes
the recent announcement of First
Lord of the Admiralty Arthur J. Hal
lour that the British flet t bo redis-'

"Mr. Kit I four's statement," the cor
re.c pondent says, "is disquitting t<
students of naval warfare because tin
first Lord appears to foreshadow ;
reversal of that policy of offensive defense
which we have successfully followed
since the fourteenth century.
"The object of the Germans in making
these raids is to brine- about a
redistribution of our naval forces to

Hartlepool the admiralty stated that
j such raids must not be allowed to
j modify the general naval policy. This

suddenly announces that alternations
are being made in the distribution
of our naval forces.
The alternations arc as follows:

being brought south; second, submarines
and monitors are to be used for
coast defense. The forces brought

Items From Myrtle Beach.
Not seeing any news from Myrtle
Beach lately, I decided I would write.
The farmers were delighted to see
the rain last Monday, as it was very
much needed.
The Myrtle Beach Baptist Sunday
School is progressing well under the
management of Mr. W. T. Todd, as
Superintendent.
M iss Annie Nance of Conway, is
spending the week with her sister,
Mrs. F. E. Todd, of Myrtle Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Todd, of Myrtle
Beach, spent a few days of last week
a: Aynor, S. C., with their daughter,
Mrs. J. T. Shelley.
Courting is the order of the day
now, but no wedding bells are ringingMrs.
W. H. Davis and children have
returned to their home at Winsor, N.
C'., after spending several weeks with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Owens
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Owens of Sum
I ter are visiting his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. P. 1). Owens.
