W. W. Moore, adjutant gene ral, has
rcc? ived word from the war depart-,
rr.ent at Washington that the Charleston
Light Dragoons and the cavalry
regiment being organized in Columbia,
would he admitted into the ser-;
vice under certain restrictions.
There had been some doubt about
the ability of both cavalry troops being
mustered into the service and the1
members of the Columbia organiza- j
lion were working from several ang-!
Irs, assisted by the Charleston Light
Dragoons, to have the government j
sanction both troops. Governor Manning
had taken the matter up with
various members of the South Caro-1
lina delegation in congress and Capt.
William Carter, of the Columbia
troop, had enlisted the services of
Congressman S. J. Nicholls.

THE HABYPHONE
is a new invention which is on a fair
way of revolutionising the telephone
system. As is well known, the Am|
eriean telephone is often very unsa*1
isfactory, but the drawbacks are
i wholly eliminated by the Baryphom ,
i which makes conversations on the
| longest distances just as clear as on
short circuits, as the sound is carried
to both ears and all noise excluded.
Persons hnr<i Vir??i? ! ??* u:*i
... ..v?.?? ? nu niuiurto
have been prohibited from using
j the telephone, can now use it with the
; aid of the Baryphone, which also will
; permit two persons to hear the mes1
sago without I've use of double telephone.
The Baryphone is the only
i simple, practical and effective sound
intensifier in existence and is incomparably
superior to all others especially
as it leaves the hand free for ani
notations during the conversation.?
Increases tu? sound wonderfully.
Indispensable to all telephone users.
