TREASURER HOLT
WILL NOT STAND
t\> The People of Horry County:
At the end of my present term I
vill have serve<l you as County
Treasurer for six years. Having defi.
itely decided at my lust election
pnot to offer for re-election, I now
announce that I will not be a candidate
for re-cleciton to the Office or
bounty Treasurer in the ensuing Primary.
In the campaign of 1906, I t'ftme before
the people, an inexperienced boy,
and offered myself as a candidate for
Probate Judge and the people of the
County honored me by electing me to
that position. After serving in that
capacity for four years, I asked the
people of the County to promote me
to the County Treasurer's Office, and
they generally supported me in my
undertaking, and again honored me
by electing me to that Office, and
have re-elected me twice since,?the
last time without opposition. In both
offices, I have tried earnestly to perform
my duty satisfactorily to the
people, and efficiently; I have tried,
as near as possible, to do as much for
the people as they have done for me,
and whether I have succeeded or not,
lies within their knowledge, and good
judgment.
My association with our County
Officers has been uniformly pleasant.
I can rememebr with nuudv more
pleasure, the forbearance and kindness
of the people of the County with
whom I have come in contact in business,
than I can any of the petty annoyances
that are bound to fall to tfce
lot of a County Official.
I realize that I have made mistakes,
and that I have not made a perfect of- I
ficial,?it is human to err, and in retiring,
I only ask that the people of
the County accept my sincere gratitude
tor the confidence they have
reposed in me.
Again thankinc the noonln fr???
confidence, and for the honors they
have seen fit to confer upon me, I am,
Gratefully yours,
?JOHN HOLT.
