Truth is something which will come
to light sooner or later.
Information is only another word
for knowledge.

The man who will beat you is the*
man who will do it the day before.

The best way to rest the mind is to
shift it from one thing to another.

Investigation is a great force because
it leads to knowledge and know
ledge is power.
If men only knew as much as they
think they know this world would be
an ideal existence.
Next to the mar. who is absolutely
and hopelessly ignorant is the man
who boasts that he knows it all.
Just a little thinking would have
saved many a situation that went to
the bad.
o
The refuge of the hopeless fool to
our way of thinking is the man who
says: "Well what is to be will be."
It is a bad state of affairs in any
family when the young ones control
the older folks.

How about supplies on the farm
this year, Mr. Farmer? It is of the
greatest importance that you plan for
them.
-O? ?
Some men have the ability to listen
at advice and never indicate whether
they intend to take it or not. This is
the best plan.

The mania for spending it seems to
us does as much damage to the general
welfare of a family as anything
else.
The greatest business of woman is
to inspire man to do his best. Whether
she has any influence in that direction
or not depends entirely upon herself.
o
Raise plenty of supplies for home

you can stand without slighting the

Columbia.?The Vomer bill to abolish
all scholarships and free tuition
privileges at State institutions was
killed in the Senate on second reading
when the Padgett amendment, offered
in substitution, was adopted by a
vote of 30 to 10. The force of Colic

the fical agent of the board of charities

financial status of all beneficiaries of
free tuition or scholarships. If the
beneficiary is able to pay college expenses
the board of charities and corrections

Many Years.
The infirmities of age arc especially
manifest in a tendency lo constipation,
and call for treatment that will
afford relief in an easy, natural manner.
The rapid action of cathartic
remedies and purgatives that shock
the system should be avoided, more
especially as the relief they offer is
only temporary and is usually more
than offset by disturbance to the vital
organs caused by their violent action.
Nearly thirty years ago Dr. W. B.
Caldwell, Monticello, 111., prescribed a
compound of simple laxative herbs
that has since become the standard;
household remedy in thousands of j
homes. It acts easily and gently, yet
with positive effect, without griping
or other pain or discomfort. Mrs.'
Rachel Allen, Galesburg, Ivans., isj
seventy-one years old, and after using
a bottle of Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pcp-j

world of good and that she intends to
