are proceeding. The importance of
the engagements seem to be considered
by the Russian military critics as
great.

After March 1st, 191(5 a penalty of 15
per cent will be added, and after
March 15th, 1910 the taxpayer will be

days away from home on business

Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Chestnut returned
the latter part of last week from
a stay of several days with relatives
of Mrs. Chestnut in Georgetown county.
The roads of Horry County are
gradually growing better we are glad
to say; but the growing is not fast
enough yet.

Stock Association" at Mr. C. K. Spivey's
residence on last Wednesday P.
M. at 3 o'clock. The purpose of the
meeting was to organize a permanent'
Live Stock Association. The meeting
was presided over by Mr. W. J. Waller
with C. H. Spivey acting secretary
The following business was transacted.

Conway Trading Company is the
corporate name of the latest addition
to Conway's business enterprises. It
has just been chartered, Messrs. H. VV
Ambrose, K. L. Wilson and Aleck Wilson
being the corporators named in
the notice recently issued. These men
are all interested in the Conway Lumber
Company, but the Trading Company
will be a separate and distinct
corporation from the other enterprise.
The business will be conducted in
the L. H. Burroughs stores recently
purchased at public sale by Mr. H. W.
Ambrose. There are two of these
stores and both of them will be used.

or storage place in connection with
the other side.

at once, is the laying of a concrete

the front store and the entire premises
repainted and put in thorough repair.

Washington.?Prosecution of oyster
dealers found guilty of the practice
of adding fresh water to shucked oysters
so as to greatly increase their
size in violation of the food and drugs
act will be recommended by the department
of agriculture.
This was announced today by the
department which said that considerable
evidence is being collected by
its inspctors regarding the traffic in
water-soaked oysters. As soon as
completed the evidence will be turned
over to the department of justice with
a view to prosecution, it was added.
