Vaught the latter part of the week. ***** Considering the fact that hard, times struck this section of the country many months ago, there is a remarkable amount of building and other industrial work going ahead in this community. There is a new hotc^.wcll on th?,way, and a large.brick tobrf^ca warehouse also started. Many people are making new homes, addj ing to the beauty of the city as well as the size of the same. Many arc building additions to the handsome homes they already own. Looking at the matter from all sides there is something really, really remarkable about it. ***** . The Million Dollar Mystery which is now running in this paper is the very best of entertainment either as a story or as a moving picture show. It will run for twenty-two weeks. After it is out The Herald will have another absorbing story which will also be shown at the "movies" and it will be equally as good as the one now running*' ***** This jssue carries the opening chapter of Harold McGrath's famous motion picture serial, "The Million Dollar Mystery." It is intensely interesting and will run for about twenty-two weeks. Each Thursday night, the films showing the episodes of the instalment published that day in The Herald, will appear at the Casino Motion Picture Theater. It is said that the staging and making of the films for this story cost the film company nearly a million dollars, t ' -THE HORRY HER. Sommerlyn, an experienced machinist-operator on Linotype and Intertype typesettingmachines, and in the general print-1 ing business.,, Jawing to circumstances j beyond our control, the mechanical j department of the business, which of course, includes the make-up and! printing of the paper, for some time! past has not had tlie attention that it J demands in order to Rive our readers 1 a sheet as ne^ilv and attractively! printed as we would have liked to have it. This stands as one of the reasons why Mr. Sommerlyn has tak- j en charge of thp plant, and with the help which he v. ill have from the oth- j cr departments of the business, we hope to give the people of the county a better paper than ever before. The Herald's plant includes one of, the latest typesetting machines car-1 rying magazines from which most of the advertising and display lines can be made up in absolutely new faces each time a change is made. All of. this and many more things have been mentioned in this paper before. Our customers in the job department may rest assured that we will give them sharp, new type faces that will make their stationery and other printing look fine and in keping with the progress of the times. A telegram was received here last Thursday by Mr. Fred Lewis that Julius N. Jenrcttc died at Norman Park, Ga., after a lingering illness of consumption from which he was suffering when he left South Carolina some years ago. Mr Lewis is a brother-in-law of Mr. Jenrcttc, and he is widely related to people in this county whore he was born and reared. After holding various positions ui nonor and trust Here, Mr. J curette was elected county treasurer and served in that capacity during the years 1909 and 1910. He was defeated in his race for re-election and some months after that moved te Georgia where he worked for a lumber company in their general offices until his health entirely failed. Marshal Nance, who has eonducted the Pines Hotel for a number of years, has leased his property and will move to Conway, where he will take charge of the Kingston Hotel about the 15th of the month. Mr Nance is a hotel man of experience and no doubt will give the people of that thriving town the best i service that the hotel has ever er.-; joyed. For three years he operated the Myrtle Peach hotel in a successful and most satisfactory manner, by the patrons of that popular resort. There he met manv neonle who will bo glad to know that ho is going back in the hotel business again. While Mr. Nance will operate the hotel, his good wife will look after the service, and this is a guarantee in itself that every thing will be neat and clean, and the bill of fare the best the market affords.? 'After this baskets of cards were passed around by the hostess and Miss McKeithan, and in this way partners were found for luncheon. They were shown to the dining room and a delightful salad course with coffee was served. The color scheme was yellow and green which was very alfective.
