VERA ELLEN HOLT
On tlie night of August 10th, the
home of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Holt
was saddened when death claimed as
its victim their bright little girl, Vera
Ellen. Her death was heartrending
in that it was so unexpected. She
played with the other chidren through
out the day and seemed cheerful. As
the darkness of night hovered around
death began to hover over little Vera
Ellen, and in less than live hours, her
little form was cold in death, and her
spirit with God who gave it. She was
four years, six months and eleven
days old. On the following day her
body was laid to rest in the Dorman
Graveyard in the presence of many
sorrowing friends.
The bereaved family have the heart
felt sympathy of the community.

Federal Government, which is that of
United States Inspector of Birds, lie
is remembered by many friends here,
made while he lived here for some
time several years ago. Mr. Rice expressed
himself as astonished at the
wonderful improvements at Conway
and in Horry County in recent years.
He stated that he had traveled
through the South, and he knew ot
no county that had made greater improvements,
than Horry, nor any
town more progressive than Conway.
This is saying a great deal for Conway
and Horry County, and it comes
from a man who knows what he is
talking about. The man who has
traveled and seen is in position to
give an opinion on this subject that
can be relied upon.
