I su-pootthat you ooys are prepiring
your acre. Bi sure to prepare
it well.
Agricultural experiments shows
that land broke 3 inohos deep will
hold 2(JU0 gallons of water, 9 icohes ,
will hoid Gil'J'i gallons and 12 inohes
will huld 83')0 gallons.
A strong, well aevelopod stalk of
0 rrn uses ab>at one gallon per day.
So you see the imporaanco of ploughing
your land deep so as to store or
hold water for dry weather.

Myrtle Beach News. .
To the Editor and Readers,
[lope you'll not. gtt worried at my
writing so often, 1 am so anxious
to hear from other writers in the
county, until my anxiety grows into
a desire to send just a word from
. .. our side of the river.
How we enjoy a bright, beautiful
sunshiny day like last Sunday, most
especially, when it follows such a
dark, dismal rainy one as latt Fri
dav was.
Things in general 9eetn to be moving
on nicety, and with few exceptions.
The health is fairly good.
Dots of irish pot itoes planted, and
many more to plant as soon as the
land becomes dry enough.
Our farmers are busy, and making
extra e(T )rts 1) realize a greater
harvest than ever before from their
farms. , Glad we are; that our people
are becoming more and more interesting
in farm life.
This is court week. Mcs >*9. Geo.
W. King, Ed McCracken, William
Todd, Joe B. Sfcalvey and Melvin
Owens are among the number attending
cjurt from here tr h week.
Misses Ida Watts, and Delta Chest
nut attended the wedding at CoolSpring
last wee k.
Mts Ralph Holbert, of Myrtle
B^acb, spent some time with her
mother last week.
Miss Vera Owens, a charming
young lady of this community spent \
several days in Geergetown recently
visiting friends mi relatives. She
returned the first of the week, and
of course, had quite a pleasant trip.
The young pepole's "musical
club,, organized by the schoojl and
young folks of the commuuity, meets ]
regularly twice a month. Much interest
is shown, and the membership :
keeps growing.
Our people are taking a bold stand
for public progress and betterment.
For this I am justly proud. The
work on the Conway and Myrtle
Beach read is progressing nicely.
The much needed, Drainage System
tbats being worked up, in this sec- g
lien, meets the hearty approval o p
nearly every 'cit'zm here. h
The young as well as old stand *or a
better schools and churches cleaner g
politics, and improved cond.tions in ^
home life. f
May the time soon come when
those much needed changes, for the
public good, will be made, and our
people will unite their efforts to *make
our county, our State and our
Nation all that they can and should
be made. ?i
