the Horry County Sunday School
Association, convened here in the
Methodist Church last Saturday
morning, and the attendance which
was rather small at the opening metting.

Last Friday in the court of Mag.
Chestnut, the case of the State vs
C. M. Mishoe, J. C. Todd, Stace
Shannon and Kirk Shannon, charg
ed with conspiracy and disorderly
conduct. The warrant had been
issued as a result of a light which
took place ou Sunday between Mishoe
and Mai Lee, the prosecutor b ing
Frank Lewis, The conspiracy
charge was withdrawn, and all of
the defendants except J. C. i'odd
pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct

the facts in the killing of L. C.
Stroud on Sunday Nov. 30th* The
details as published in last week's
Herald were written in accordance
with something soid by the man who
came with the two accused boys to
give themselves up to ty the sheritT.

Dr. A. D. Lewis, being sworn
says:
I find on examination on the right
arm, upper 2 8, a llesh wound, uot
skin deep-deft side on fine of lower
border shoulder blade a pistol wound
where ball entered and ranged forward
and downward on liue with
lower part of heart which caused
his death.
Ellii West, being sworn says:
I lived on Mr Stroud's place. Burroughs
Stroud and John* Hooks shot
him to death. Burroughs shot
twice and John shot twice at Mr.
Stroud and one time at me.. The
boys came by my house cursing.
Mr Stroud started to get in his buggy
and they cursed him. Mr Stroud
said he would go out and see what
they were cursing and trying to
fight about. Burroughs shot him
twice and gave the pistol to John.
John said: 4 Give me the pistol and

him twice. He did not fall from the
first two shots. The shooting was
done aoout 10 yards from where he

Tie coroner's jury consisted of

Hill, Bud Neeley, Melvin Harrelson,
Elije Lewis, Dave Strickland, W. E.
Jolly, Rafe Wilson, D. Grainger,
S. V. Causey, Charley Page. They
returned their verdict t> the effect
that the deceased came to his death*
by a pistol in the hands of Buiroughs
Stroud and John Hookf.

Be it ordained by the Mayor and
Wardens of the Town of Conway in
Council assembled:
1, It shall be unlawful for any
person to operate a motor vehicle
within the limits of the Town of
Conway without first displaying
upon the back of such vehicle, in a
conspicuous place, the name of the
County or State in which his certificate
of registration is filed and also
the number of such vehicle, which
name number shall be yisiole at a
reasonable distance as required by
tlie Statutes of the State of Souin
Carolina.
2. Every motor vehicle, while in

of Conway, shall be provided with
