Owing to the lull in business and also to the fact that it has become a <
custom of some merchants of this City to offer some l<ind of inducements to <
their Customers, I have adopted this way of showing my appreciation of the !
patrona e that may be shown me in the next three weeks. j
1 will give every customer> chance to get his money's worth back.
I do it in this way, I have placed in three different boxes on exhibition 1
in the store, .100 hnvelopcs each containing a Number, ranging from 1 to 300
and each and every customer purchasing irnmlw to flio n m miHfr #\ C ? t Ait 2 I '
? o ? ""V MMIVUlli U 1 f I.Ul? IS t'll* j
tilled to draw one of these envelopes fro in the Dollar Hox, if $2.00 he is en- <
titled to have a draw at the $2.00 box, if $3.0) he is entitled to have a draw
from the $3.00 box and so on. Now there is 5 corresponding numbers in each '
box each number drawing $3.00 There are 5 premiums in each one hundred ,
chances for each of the <&1, $2, aud $3, boxes, so in the purchase of most'any
small amount your chances arc good to make good the cost uf yoar purchase !
lor nothing. '
?
These corresponding numbers arc scaled up and placed in .the safe so
at the expiration of the sale of these 300 envelopes. I will open the correspond- !
ing numbers and mail to you your premium, or if you live in the town limits I
will hand it to you any time after the opening of the envelopes. Now this is
no catch scheme, but simply a matter of inducement to the people to buy their '
Jewelry at home and to patronize home industry. i
Not that 1 want to take from any customer more than he will have to
pay to the Mail Order Houses, but I guarantee to sell you the same goods for
(
less money than you can buy them elsewhere and guarantee the goods as represented.
Hcsidcs we are in a better position to supply your wants and to
give you just what you do want as I have added to my stock the necessary
goods to supply the demands. ;
And again I think we have been here in your midst tbe necessary length
of time to gain the confidence and our dealings arc such as to warrant the ,i
patronage of each and every citizen of the county. >t
My motto is to treat you right.
We carry in stock all kinds of CLOCKS, WATCHES, CHAINS, LOCKET
S, BRACELETS, KINGS and BROACHES, PINS, ETC., and besides we
carry all kinds of Musical Instruments and Photograph goods. I

NEW KIND OF WELL
An Artesian Well at Loris That Started
to Flow all by Itself. t
As a general rule the artesiar
wells in this section of the Stab 0
that one sees bubbling over and
running free on almost every hand,
are obtained by days and days of
drilling for hundreds of fet t down 11
t
through the various stralas of hare j
clay, sand, and rocks, and at a great [
deal of expense to obtain a good and
full llow from a email pipe. Lord 1
has a well that is different.
Besides the artesian wells above
mentioned, some neooie have whal ?.
is called a deep well, which means
nothing except that it has been bored
down deeper than the ordinary
well is usually put. From the so
called deep wells, the vater is raised ^
with a pump. It was this kind of [
deep well that Normam Mosely put ;
down at his famous saw mill at Lor- '
is. He had to go down a little deep- j
er than usual to get a supply of water
to run his boilers. When he
got the well down he hitched a stean j
pump t > it and for a long time hi?
steam boiler was supplied in thi
way, and the mean time the steam
worked away and brought foith torn
of sand, as well as the wat-r thai
was wanted. Finally when he dh
continued the pump the Tow of wu- !
ler still continued to come, and hi
discovered that he had an artesiar
well without intending to have it :
whec he sti t d. This strange well
has tiow been llowing good water
for several months, and Moseh
claims that it is good Tor various ills
of the body, and the water has beer
widely advertised.
