Several Tracts of Land Sold at the
Court House.
The following sales of real estate
were maue iu iront or the Court
House door on last Monday, it being
legal salosday, the sales being made
by tlie Clerk of the Court and the
Sheriff of the County to-wit:
A triet cf 25 acres, more or less
on the publioroad leading from Con
way to Floyd's Ferry, known a9 the
former residenco of A. J. Elliott,
was sold to Porry D. Bell for the
sum of $100 00, as ordered in the
case of Ogden K. Prince, etal., vs
M. M. Prince.
One tract of 43 acres, more or loss,
on the South s de of tho Conway and
Little River road, in Little River
Township, near Wampee, formerly
owned by F. O Bellamy, went to M
B. 'fhompson for the sum of $165 00
under tho foreclosure proceedings of
a mortgage against the property.
The interest of Martha Blanton in
a tract of about 140 acres, tho estate
of Madison Blanton, was sold under
execution issuul in the case of tmlerprise
Grocery Co., v?,~ Marthi
B'anton, this interest went to J. U.
Allsbrook for the sune of $305 00.
The next traot sold was a tract of
60 acres, more orl^ss, in Bayboro
Township, knotfn as the former resi
dence of Daniel Brown, and this
was sold to Henry B Baker under
partition proceedings for the sum ot
$665 00
Under an execution issued in the
case of G. J. Ilolliday vs. W, Albert

on the public road leading from Cool
Spring to Reboboth Church, and
containing 21 acres, was purchased
by Mr, Holliday, the plaintiff in the
case, for the sum of $72 00,
Besides the above sales of real
estate, a considerable quantity of
household and kitchen furniture,
seized under chattel mortgages
against W. M. Wilson, was sold at
auction by John H. McCaskill, act
ing for the holders of the mortgages
and brought all together something
over $100.00. Wilson is the man
who moved to Conway early last
year and engaged in tho business of

The first shipment of strawberries
from Oonway worthy of note took
place last Saturday and was reported
by Mr. J. M. McKeithan, agent
of the Southern Express Co. Seventy-one
crates of finely developed
Klondykes went from this point
last Saturday mostly to the Philv
delphia markets, but somo of thtem
to other pojn's north. They were
of fine quality and will ii) d )ubl
bring handsome returns.

the National Association of Audubon

Wild Birds and Animals, informing
me that he oxpects to come oyer to
Conway on April 17th, and will
make a tour of Vho County lecturing
on bird-; their uses to man and
man's duty to protect them.
i Mr. Rice is prominently qualified
to speak on this subject. He is
pleasantly remembered in Horry as
an Editor. His schedule, unless
changed, will bo as follows:

Congressman Ragsdale in Washington

present at the opening of congress
today He had just returned from
his trip to Columbia with Mrs.
Ragsdale and the children, who had
been called to tho sick bed of Mrs.
E. S. Joynes, Mrs Rugsdale's mother.
Mrs Joyces was bettor when
Mr Ragsdale left Columbia.
Mr. Ragsdale's new secretary, Mr
T. E. Stokes will not be able to assume
his duties until his term as
superintendent of edncation of Darlington
county expires, which will
be in July. Mr. Luther Jones has
gone to the capital to act as secretary
in tlie meantime. Luther has
been Mr Ragsdales stenographer for
some time, and is bright and quick
and he will make a very good secretary
while he enjoys tbc glorious
privilege of life at the national capital.
