The case against Ross Blackburn, Tilman Blackburn and John Prince will hardly be tried as two of the parties are still very ill. There is a c'oss indict ment against Talma Jge J Ktl wards, who is also ill. News From the Bay. The farmers ?vre busy preparing for aq^ther crop. Lots of fertilizer will be used this season. Some of tbe farmers are continuing the old practice, burning their corn stalks, while others are cutting them up and turning them under. Our school is progressing nicely under the car.e of Prof. Andrew J, Cox. We are glad to have Mr. Cox with us. Mr. Joe Causee and family have moved to Green Sea, Mr. Causee is a good man. He did all he could tor the spiritual good of his church, bis Sunday school, anfor his neighborhood. We miss Mr. Causee, Mr John Graham and family have left us and moved over in the Mt. Olive section? - > Mr John Hill recently bought the Causee place and has moved in with his family. We welcome such a bust ling man as Mr. Hill. Mr Ma&cus Elliott, another hust ling-man wili soon erect a large saw mill, a grist mill, a brick mill, and a cotton gin. He says he will have other miuor attachments attached. Lots of tobacco will be put out in this section this season. Mr Arthur Davis has moved in t and wiil help Mr Harrison Weavil farm this year. Miss Bessie Bullock a student of the Grassy Bay school paid her rela , tives below Conway a pleasant visit, spending a couple of weeks and returned Sunday with Mr. B. Singleton in his automooilo. Ana brose of Ay nor, S. C. The ceremony was performed by the Clerk of the tDourt, and there were only a few witnesses present to see * the knot tied. Mrs. Ambrose is the daughter of Mr. Win. Page of Galivants Ferry. She is a very charming and accomplished young lady. Mr. Ambrose is connected with the firm of which his father is a member, and now engaged in the timber business near Ay nor. Difficulty at Stables ^ There was a personal difficulty last Saturday evening at the livery stable j of Elliott & Johnson, between ^ Victor M. Johnson, a member of the Arm and Arthur McCormick, an em- c ployee of A. B. Elliott in the automobile business. There had been some trouble between the parties J" concerning the use of the stabies for J" taking care of the automobiles which I ? did not belong to ihe firm but were the individual property of A. B E!- c liott. 8 McCormick returned to the stalls 0 on Friday night from the trip with } one of the machines and found the 1 doors locked. lie broke open the l] doors and went in. Parties we**e summoned for the Mayor's court on Monday, To Regulate Selling Rates f it A bill ha3 been introduced in the " House of Representatives by Hon. * a.. J, Sherwood and Mr. Whitehead, [ to amend section 2G01 in the Code of Laws, regulating the rates for selling leaf tobacco upon the floor of tobacco warehouses. This bill will be published for the general information should it become a law. t, ?. n Magistrate Court ^ In the court of Magistrate W, H y Chestnut last Friday the case of The State vs I. L. Holmes, charged t with malicious trespass was called v for trial. Origiua!ly th? warrant o charged the damage from the trespass at the sum of $15.00, bringing it whithin the jurisdiction of the magistrate. Tho chief occupation of the farmers is preparing for a new crop. Tobacco, is the chief aim from the way the new barns are going up and the tobacco beds planted. Things at this place seem to be in a very*progrssive mood Mr Daniel T Lewis has erected a new building near here and is now occupying it. Mr Lewis has also put down a saw mill which means much for himself and the community at largo. Mr Mayo Ilolmes formerly of Nichols, S. C., has purchased a beautiful homo on the Day and is now occupying it. Miss Lizzie Faircloth and brother Aeuo of Mt Tabor, N. C., spent the week end here with their sister virs is ?< Harreison, Miss Daisy Stephens has reently dosed a successful term of school at Vlt Olive and is now at home. The Athens school is progressing liceiy under the management of Vliss Reba Floyd, the trustees would lo well to secure her to teach the second term for them unless, she ike so many of our teachers; jhanges her name. Mr Haniper Holmes of Pleasant /lew was in our section last Sunday dternoon: Messers Mack Alford and Marion darrelson of Mt Olive were pleasant jailers here Sunday.
