STEPPEO OFF PIAZZA
Entrance to School Building Not
Lighted, ?Neither any Railing.?Mr.
Adams Stepped off and,Misged Footing,?Falling
About Six Feet to
Ground
0,i Wednesday night of last week
after the lyceum attraction at the
Burroughs School Building, as the
crowd was leaving the building,
couuty auditor N. C Adams, missed
his footing on the steps at the entrance,
and foil to the ground from
the high e.utry a distance of six or
eight foot, and received very painful
if not serious ii juries by the fall.
The entry was dark. The sleps do
not extend the whole distance or
length of the entry. Tnere is no
railing to prevent stepping off. Mr
Adams forge ting tnat the steps
did not extend all the way across,
stepped olf the edge and the fall
wrenched and perhaps dislocated tho
hip, nis foot was badly sprained,
and he was otherwise bruised and
irjured. Tho family physician Dr.
J. S, Duesnbury, was immediately
called and Mr. Adams taken home.
iie has been confined to his room
ever since, unable to walk, but it is
stated that he will be out again very
likely in a fo .v more days. As there
was no light at the place of the accident,
and no railing; it wiil appear
that the same accident is likely to
occur again unless steps are taken
to remedy the situation. Many people
sympathized with Mr Adams.
