TO HELP PUSH WORK FORWARD
Co-Operation Movement for Larger
^ Crops, Better Roads, More Prosperous
People and a
Better Nation.
E "
This marks the beginning of a cow
and greater business servico. It Is a
co-operative movement for larger
crops, better roads, happier homes,
more prosperous people, and a rich or
and better nation. That is to say,
the I II C Servico Bureau proposos to
help do for ail the states and for Canada
what Holden has done for Iowa.
After considering many offers, and
after an investigation of the company
and its works, Professor Perry Q.
Holden has entered tbo service of the
I 11 C Service Bureau nt Chicago.
Professor Holden is known wherever
real agriculturo Is known. His
whole life is ono of servico. Hn originated
tbo Idea of carrying Information
direct to farmers. He is the father
ol the demonstration train, short

Corn Exposition. Ab head of th? oxtension
department of Iowa State College
of Agriculture ho did a work
which, Senator Cummlne says, up to
the present time ha? Increased tho
wealth of Iowa $30,000,000.
The object of tho I H C Service Bureau
lfl the promotion of agricultural
education, and a co-opcratlon which
will tend to raise the wholo tone of
commercial, industrial and farm life.
Since agrlaulture is the basis of prosperity
nnd progress, naturally farm |
problems claim first attention. The aim
is higher efficiency, both on and off
the farm.
To do a*blg work a big organization
1b necessary. Not only the bigness, j
butMthe perfection of the- International
organization as woll appealed to Professor
IIolden. The big general agencies,
scattered all over the United
6tates and Canada; tho salesmen,
travelers and expert machine men;
tho 40,000 dealers-?every one, so far
as possible, la to be made an apostle
of better farming.
For ycarg tho International HarTester
Company has realized the importance
of service. It ban apent millions
of dollars in the perfection of labor-saving
machlnoB, and now the
company is going In for direct service
?direct to the farmers, and direct to
the farmers' children, that the men
and women of tomorrow may be more
capable and bo mora prosperous than
the men and women of today.
It 1b no longer a theory ib&t if w?

flivo farming" 1b In tho air. It 1b the
battle cry of peace and plenty. But
raising more Is tho result of mind,
not muscle. We must know. And
not only that, we must know we
know, and know why we know. We
must know good seed from bad, right
cultivation from wrong, cind the whys
and wherefore of climates, soils,
fruits, cattle, horeoe, poultry, and so
forth.
For thcfio things tho bureau was
established. But tho bureau and
Professor Holden see more than an
average increase of a few bushels.
They see a time coming when farmers
will raise twlco ae many bushels of
corn, wheat and oats to tbo acre,
and liko yields of all other kinds of
farm products. They seo a tlmo whon
farmers and farmers' wives and their
children will think moro and work
less. Rlvery bushel raised means Just
that much profit, and tho profits of
tho farm promote commerce and Industry.
After a porlod of good work In Michigan
agricultural college, better werk
at Illinois, and a great work at Iowa,
Professor Holden now entera upon a
world's work. While la future Professor
Holden will designate Chicago
as home, he says ho la not leaving Iowa
?he Is merely carrying Iowa to the
rent Of the world, v
