many times during the past several
year's that the business men of
Conway should get together from
time to timo and by their united
efforts bring to Conway new inanu
facfcuring enterprises that would
furnish labor to the people, and to a
more or less extent, ta :o the place
of the lumber industries that it is
saiu will be sure to play out in the
course of ten, fifteen (. r twenty
years from now. While vhe aavic?
mentioned has been well given, it
has not bee i well taken, and w: sa.>
this for the reason tha i has net
been acted upon. The lumber mills
have been running for thrt past ten
years or more using up no supply
of timber, and durirg that time, not
a singie cotton or fu^ . e factory
ha? b^cn organized or started here.
There is ^till time ho^ ver within
which these ne v industries may be
started so that they will tike the
place of the others mentioned, But
if the matter is too long delayed, it
will some day be too late, and the
t.na/n will fall flat from a business
standpoint by reason of the laboring
class of people being thrown out
of employment.
